At the age of 73, Bonnie (Nicholson-Modlin) Herber went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, leaving behind a legacy of love, grace, and unwavering faith. She passed peacefully, surrounded by those who cherished her most.
A devoted follower of Christ, Bonnie (Nicholson-Modlin) Herber lived her life as a reflection of His love—gentle, forgiving, and full of compassion. Her heart was especially tender toward children, and she poured her soul into nurturing, teaching, and uplifting them. Whether through her warm embrace, her encouraging words, or her quiet prayers, she made every person feel seen, safe, and deeply loved. Life was not always easy for Bonnie (Nicholson-Modlin) Herber. She faced many trials—some that would have broken others—but she met each challenge with courage and a steadfast belief that God was walking beside her. Her strength was quiet but mighty, and her resilience inspired everyone who knew her.
To know Bonnie (Nicholson-Modlin) Herber was to know kindness. She forgave freely, loved deeply, and gave generously. Her laughter was soft but contagious, her hugs healing, and her presence a balm to weary souls. She was the kind of woman who made you feel like you mattered—because to her, you did. She leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who were blessed by her wisdom and warmth, and a community forever changed by her light. Though our hearts ache, we rejoice knowing she is now in eternal peace, embraced by the One she loved most. Her favorite verse was: "Let all that you do be done in love." – 1 Corinthians 16:14 And that is exactly how she lived.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Yvonne Nicholson, and her brother, Mark Nicholson. Bonnie is survived by her daughter Bonnie B. O’Donnell (John); her son Timothy “Tim” Modlin, Jr. (Amy); grandchildren Tyler Bryant, Timothy “Timmy” Modlin, III, Vincent O’Donnell (Krista), Tyler O’Donnell, and Nathan O’Donnell (Alaina); great-grandchildren Miah, Isabella “Bella,” James, Riley, and Olivia; siblings Oscar Nicholson, III, Stephen Nicholson, Rock Nicholson, and Cyndi Nicholson-Modlin; in-laws, Sue Lorena, Charlotte, Alice and Terry. She also leaves behind a large and loving extended family including countless, nieces and nephews who adore her.
